Food bank volunteers are essential to the services provided to our Hoosier neighbors. Volunteers sort and pack food, distribute meals, and take on other essential tasks which help ensure food is distributed to Hoosiers at risk of hunger statewide.
In 2023, volunteers provided nearly 300,000 hours of service the member food banks of Feeding Indiana’s Hungry, the equivalent to approximately 144 more full time employees and valued at over $2 million.
In addition to helping member food banks add to their capacity, volunteerism helps raise awareness of hunger in America and promotes community involvement in solving the problem.
